Sports Medicine PRP (platelet rich plasma) is a treatment that is administered by our clinic nurses and on site Orthopaedic Surgeon. Platelets are the smallest cells in the blood and they are the key elements required for blood clotting and injury healing. As your own PRP is administered into the damaged tissue it promotes your own body’s natural ability to shorten the recovery and healing process for soft tissue injuries.
- Safe with minimal downtime
- The most natural way to promote healing
How it Works
Our highly trained nurses will extract and process your blood to ensure the highest concentration of platelets in the plasma. The Orthopaedic Surgeon will then inject your PRP into the affected area.
What To Expect
Your appointment can take up to 2 hours. Tylenol can be taken as needed.
As with most regenerative treatments results are dependent upon the patient’s degree of injury, and their body’s ability to heal.
We recommend that the treatment be repeated as required.
- Possible swelling in the treatment area due to the desired inflammatory response
- Possible temporary discomfort in the treatment area
